We had a wonderful two-night stay in the Catskills for a girls’ trip with our boys (ages 3–10), and it couldn’t have gone better. Rika was an amazing host—super responsive and attentive. We had one or two minor issues, and she addressed and resolved everything promptly the very next day. She truly went above and beyond, even ordering us an air fryer and extra sleds, which we really appreciated.The sledding hill right near the home was a huge hit with the kids. There’s also a pond on the property (frozen during our stay because of the weather), and the hot tub was absolutely amazing to use in the cold. The game room in the basement was a hit for the kids and is an absolute must if you’re traveling with children. It does get a bit cold down there, but there are space heaters available. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend this place!

This house was beautiful! The scenery was spectacular! We enjoyed swimming in the pond that was on the property. Everything was well labeled. There were even codes to scan for the appliances if you didn't know how to use them. There were so many thoughtful touches. We were at a prior place and had to leave because it was awful. Rika’s place is just amazing. First off, the house exceeded our expectations. When you walk in you immediately notice the decor. It’s completely clutter free so the beautiful designs really stand out. The beds were incredibly comfortable. I slept like a log which is very unusual. I actually slept a bit late on Saturday because it was so cozy and restful. Pillows felt great too. Bathrooms are spotless and the master bedroom suite’s shower is beautiful and maintains great water pressure and heat. The game room downstairs is amazing and the kids had an absolute ball as did we! The deck swing, chairs and fire pit were excellent for a night of s’mores and star gazing. Rika gives you everything you need stocked! We saw deer every night and morning and watched frogs and tadpoles in the pond. Rika was always available for questions and suggestions on attractions and the website for the house has all the information you need for things to do. Highly recommend Hunter House!

Rika’s place was the perfect spot for a family getaway! It was spacious, clean, and inviting. The main long space was open so all 7 of us were all able spend time together, even when I was cooking. The downstairs was the favorite for all of my kids, ages 4-16! There was something for all of them—toys, basketball, ping pong, air hockey and more! It snowed while we we were there and they had sleds to sled down the hill in the backyard! We went skiing at Belleayre during our stay (about 50 min away) and loved being able to soak in the hot tub when we got back! Plus it’s a beautiful drive through the mountains to get there! Highly recommend this place for families!

Overall had a good stay! The hosts allowed us a later checkout which was nice. I will say based on the pictures we did expect the house itself to be a bit bigger on the inside ( specifically the rooms) and for the playroom to be upstairs not in an unfinished basement which was a bummer since children needed to be constantly watched and the floors were very cold. Also, although the appliances looked really nice in the pictures they definitely were not high end. We do want to say we appreciate the nice touches in the bathrooms and some welcome snacks, but we do wish that the way the property looks in pictures ( assume it’s editing) matched what it was in person- especially given the price. Overall we had a good stay not great- ( room sizes, uncomfortable couch, definitely a house with pets ( wish this was disclosed in the listing as a lot of us had allergies), however hosts were nice and overall the house was clean.

Rika's place was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay, and the extra amenities, like the shower steamers, were appreciated. The place was thoughtfully furnished, and the game room was fun. We especially enjoyed the hot tub. As a small note, two bathrooms for 8-10 people is a bit tough, but if you go into the trip aware of this and everyone's needs, then you should be fine. It helped that each room had a mirror so that folks could get ready when the bathrooms were in use. Rika herself seems to be a lovely person, and was very fast to respond whenever we had a question!

It was 9 of us, 5 of them kids and they had a blast in the basement with all the amenities for them.The only recommendation I do give is, that since the location of the home is remote, buy or pick up groceries before heading there. It is a 20 minute drive to the closest grocery store. With this in mind, overall, it was an amazing home to stay in.

Had a last minute getaway here and overall we were happy with it! Like other reviewers mentioned, it feels a little smaller than the photos make it look. But, the basement play space was huge and our kids had a great time playing there! So that made the space feel bigger. We enjoyed the sledding hills on the property and the beautiful sunsets. We did have a little trouble with the oven but they are aware and working on it! Rika was very responsive so communication was easy.

Our stay was wonderful. Rika was very helpful, responsive, and accommodating. The home was clean and well stocked. We received local recommendations, and ended up visiting Livingston Manor. There was delicious ice cream, a coffee shop, and a great playground for the kids. The only disappointment was the unfinished basement where the playroom/game room was located. The ceiling insulation is fully exposed meaning that there are fine fiberglass particles that can potentially fall from the ceiling with any air movement. Because of this we were concerned about bringing the children to the play area and didn’t spend any time in that room. Other than that we would recommend a stay at the Hunter House!

Firstly, the best home we have ever stayed in. The design was impeccable, right out of Dwell magazine. Supery clean and pristine. Snacks when we arrived! Fluffy duvets and pillows, and Robes! Gorgeous tiled bathrooms. Truly like a high end hotel experience. The game room is a big plus! For all aged kids. So big they can even roller skate down there. Huge TVs. It was -7 when we were there and we were verrry comfy and did not want to leave, but managed to get out to hike on a nearby rail trail and snow tube nearby at Villa Roma. Lovely fireplace added to the getaway winter cozy vibes. Rika was very attentive and helped right away when I couldn't figure out the very easy door lock :) Thank you Rika! Really beautiful place to stay when you want to get away from it all! Surroundings are wonderful, the house is gorgeous, and the furniture is all so comfy. I had a girls weekend here and it was perfect, including the fairy lights in the front and back porches during the evening. Rika’s home had most of what we needed and we had a great time BBQing, hanging in the hot tub, and having movie night. Rika is a very responsive host - truly she always answered and it was always quick. Two things to note: first, you’re really very far out, everything is at least 20 minutes away, & so no service (but WiFi is reliable!). Second, because it’s a secluded house with its own water tank situation, water gets lukewarm fairly quickly when multiple people are showering (we had the max people of 10). Would 100% stay there again; great way to take a beat and breathe!

Everything was gorgeous and everything works. There is nothing that’s not provided, from pack n play, high chair to baby bath. This property and home are incredible! The private well maintained greenery, apple trees, lake and views are serene and heavenly. The house is spacious, clean, comfortable, well thought out, cheery and decorated professionally. The big deck overlooking the private property has great seating options. The house is stocked with all that you need and more. There are board games (boggle etc) and physical games (ping pong, air hockey, bean bag throw, basketball) in the amazingly fun basement. There are two fire pit options and a great hot tub. Plenty of land for family outdoor games (there was a volleyball net up too!) or just for relaxing overlooking the frog filled peaceful lake. Hosts were gracious and responsive. Our family made really wonderful memories.

The game room was great for kids to run around and burn off energy. We’ll definitely come back for the summer!

The house was very well prepared, clean, and felt very welcoming. They put thought into the guest's experience, and it was also very pet friendly! We were a party of 9 with 2 dogs and spent our New Year there. A nice getaway.

Stayed over three nights with our family in this gem of a house. The place is very well appointed down to the smallest detail. We felt incredibly comfortable and spent the days relaxing in the living area and the evenings cooking dinners in the expansive kitchen while the kids had a blast downstairs in the basement floor play area.
